I’m delighted to welcome you to our website. My name is Shirin Masud and I have the privilege of being the Cedar Family Leader. This is my second year in this role and I look forward to working with both yourselves and the children of Cedar once again.
Our Cedar Family consists of six classes based in the Cedar block:
Cedar 1 Mrs Blackman & Mrs Bonner
Cedar 2 Miss Richardson & Mrs Masud
Cedar 3 Mrs Reznitchenko
Cedar 4 Mr Tebbutt
Cedar 5 Miss Marsh
Cedar 6 Miss Warnock
We also have a great team of Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants and Play Leaders who are all working exceptionally hard to support your children.
Our motto at Honilands is ‘We Are One’. This is an illustration of how our school operates. We believe that children work best when learning together and with your help, we can strive to be the best school that we can be. Communication between yourselves and the school is vital. Every term we send home a curriculum letter which includes news about visits and reminders about school dates. Please remember to ask your children for it.
It is my belief that learning is crucial for children to become successful, confident and responsible citizens. With our new and exciting curriculum, our aim is to make learning engaging, challenging and meaningful. Through weekly assemblies our Learning to Learn skills encourage children to be resilient, reflect on their learning, be resourceful, take risks in learning, be responsible and develop positive relationships with adults and peers alike. I hope that our approach, together with the learning environment that we create at Honiland’s, will foster a love of learning and the desire to learn independently.
Our school challenges this year are to develop cursive handwriting as well as reading and learning times tables. Please remind children to read regularly at home and take the time to write a comment in their green Reading Log. Encourage them to practice their times tables too as there are many prizes and vouchers to be won at the end of each half term!
As Family Leader, I expect our children to follow the Golden Rules at all times. Children are reminded of these weekly in family assemblies and are learning to look after property, listen in school, be gentle, be kind and helpful, be honest and, most of all, work hard. I look forward to having your supporting in encouraging these skills as they are crucial for children’s development.
Finally, if you or your child has any questions or problems, please do not hesitate to get in contact with me directly. This can be done by contacting the School Office and we can arrange a mutually convenient time.
