In the Foundation Stage the children learn best through play based activities and first hand experiences. Every child deserves the best possible start in life. In the Foundation Stage we do this by observing what the children can do and supporting them to fulfil their potential. Children become independent learners through the provision of a balance of child-initiated and adult-led experiences.

At Honilands we aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum which will enable each child to develop socially, emotionally, physically, creatively and intellectually to their full potential and at their own pace. Each child is unique and is valued as an individual.I believe for this to be successful we need dedication and commitment from staff and parents working together in partnership. There will beplenty of opportunities for parents to get involved in the early years from supporting us with getting to know your child better, joining in workshops, celebrating your child’s achievements, curriculum talks and much more.

Both our Nursery and Reception children are expected to follow the school’s Golden Rules and these are embedded during the children’s daily learning. Certificates are awarded to children who are following these. Please continue to encourage your child to follow the golden rules and expectations of our school.

Please find a copy of the EYFS Curriculum Guide here:  EYFS Curriculum Guide (PDF)

We are here to support parents as well as the children and if you need to see a member of staff with any concerns or questions then please do so.  If you would like to meet with me, an appointment can be made in the Acorns building where I am based.  I look forward to working with all.
