My name is Chris Shaw and I would like to introduce myself as the Willow Family Leader. I have the privilege of working with an amazing team of teachers and support staff who all work incredibly hard to ensure that your child is happy and successful in school. The Willow family is made up of 6 classes, from Year 1 to Year 6, and these are located together in the Willow building. We have our own entrance and playground accessible via Kempe Road. The Willow teachers are:
Willow 1 – Mrs Demetriou
Willow 2 – Miss Marshall
Willow 3 – Mr Kay
Willow 4 – Miss Akinlabi
Willow 5 – Ms Russel/Ms Shaw
Willow 6 – Mr Walsh
We work closely as a team to encourage our children to become confident learners who achieve their full potential and develop a love of learning. Through delivering a fun and exciting topic based curriculum, we teach key skills and promote the 6R’s. These are: responsibility; resilience; resourcefulness, risk taking; being reflective, and building positive relationships. We believe that these are essential skills for becoming a successful, self-motivated learner.
The Willow family meets weekly for an assembly where we use the theme of our Golden Rules to celebrate children’s successes. We have high expectations for our children and they regularly display these positive qualities, making our school a great place to work and to learn.
I believe that children achieve their best when there is a strong partnership between home and school. You can encourage your child to gain the most of their time with us by helping them to learn their times tables and weekly spellings and by reading with them daily. Every half term we have a reading challenge where those children who read regularly at home, and fill in their green reading record, may win a prize. We also have a termly maths challenge for the children to complete.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in contact with your child’s class teacher or you can speak directly to me. I look forward to working with you all this year.
